"Tasting Tips" - 6 good reasons to choose a vegan wine!

La Cantina Pizzolato produces Certified Vegan Wine: we are proud of our company's VEGAN CERTIFICATION: we have been continuing our fully organic and vegan production path for many years.

Not everyone knows that our wine is vegan thanks to the 'use of products that are not of animal origin, such as bentonite, a clay mineral that clarifies wine. It has the same function as albumin or isinglass and that is to attract residues and coarse substances to the bottom of the barrels.

Definition of Vegan Wine

Vegan wine is wine that contains no substances of animal origin in it and is produced by processes that exclude the use of any substance of animal origin. In recent years the number of vegans in Italy has been growing and this requires a progressive adaptation of stores, supermarkets, restaurants, etc. to provide products that can respond to this philosophy of life. Veganism in fact is a lifestyle choice that includes, with reference to food, the rejection of any element of animal origin.

All wines produced by Cantina Pizzolato are vegan wines!

How to Recognize a Vegan Wine

Many people wonder what vegan wine is actually like, and there is often a misconception that organic vegan wine is not actually a real wine or rather that it is a kind of "artificial non-alcoholic wine." Therefore, it should be pointed out that vegan wine and organic wine in general absolutely maintain the taste, appearance, flavor and alcohol content of traditional wine. As pointed out above, vegan wine is a wine that does not contain animal-derived elements and is produced with techniques and processes that do not use animal elements.

6 Good Reasons to Choose a Vegan Wine!

There is still very little talk about it, opinions are many, and there are still several aspects to be clarified about wine considered "vegan."
Here are 6 points that we believe can help you choose it!

  1. Why vegan wine is born in the countryside
To make vegan wine, animal products are banned in the countryside; in fact, the fertilization of our vineyards is completely green: we use plant humus derived from plant residues from agriculture or human food. This type of fertilization improves soil structure and brings nutrients to the vines that allow them to grow in balance.
  2. Why the winery respects vegan principles at the production stage
If wine is the nectar of grapes, why should it contain animal substances? There are many wineries that use elements derived from animal components such as isinglass, albumin, casein or other milk derivatives during the wine clarification process to achieve homogeneous clarity, and reduce excess astringency and bitter taste. A vegan wine bans the use of any animal derivatives in the entire production chain, which is why we at La Cantina Pizzolato use bentonite, a mineral, during the clarification process. Bentonite is a clay rock of volcanic origin that is immersed in vegan wine to absorb suspended particles by cleaning the wine of impurities.
  3. Why the cost of vegan wine is the same
The passion and commitment we put into cultivating vines that are as natural as possible, that are strong and capable of giving birth to a natural and genuine wine that does not use products of animal origin at any stage of the production chain leads to carrying out the same processes that are no different from any other winery; the costs are very often the same but it is the attention that is different.
  4. Why it is a wine for everyone
Whether your diet is omnivorous, vegetarian, vegan or crudist vegan wine can be drunk by everyone and your food pairings can be some of the tastiest and most sophisticated. A vegan wine can be very structured, like our raboso, which can therefore be paired with succulent dishes of Venetian cuisine, or fresh and sweet, like our chardonnay, which when paired with summer salads or a veg parmigiana enhances all the flavors of the dish.
  5. Why it is a certified wine
A vegan wine is a healthy wine from healthy vines that are in balance with the ecosystem and biodiversity around them. At the community level, there is still no ad hoc legislation legislating vegan wine, consequently there is no official certification. The consumer is able to recognize this product thanks to certification issued specifically by certifying bodies to which companies very often rely. A vegan wine can also be certified organic and therefore free of chemicals; this directs the consumer to know how to drink well and better, toward a path of healthy and varied nutrition.
  6. Why vegan wine is as good as any other
There is no difference: a vegan wine is as good as any other. Intense aromas on the nose and great flavors and aromas in the mouth as well. Try toasting even with those who are not vegan!
