We celebrate recycling day with our "Back to Basic" line.

Today is World Recycling

The Back to Basic line, created by recycling different materials, becomes an ambassador for World Recycling Day.

March 18 is World Recycling Day, an anniversary dedicated to celebrating the importance of materials of their recycling and the proper sorting of waste for the development of a circular economy, which fully values resources and protects the future of our planet.
A goal that is possible through the commitment of institutions and governments, but which companies like ours must also pursue by promoting the culture of reuse, recycling and good daily practices to be replicated at home.

What is the difference between Reuse and Recycle?

The difference between the terms 'reuse' and 'recycling' is substantial: one reuses a good that has not yet become waste, and one recycles what already is and is apparently no longer functional for the purpose for which it was produced.
Reuse therefore implies immediate action: it means restoring, in some way, the function of the object to prevent it from becoming garbage. Recycling, on the other hand, implies that the product has already been thrown away, but that the material of which it is made is transformed to produce something new, similar to or very different from what it was originally used for.

Our Back to Basic line: ambassador for recycling

With this line we wanted to 'go back to our roots, to our origins': hence the claim "Back to Basic," which expresses the desire to make a wine and packaging capable of representing both the roots of the winery and the ability to implement circular economy project.

Thus, the BACK TO BASIC wine line aims to go beyond organic wine and involves the entire packaging chain, which consists of five eco and low-impact elements:

- WINE, whose certified organic and vegan grapes come from the vineyards of the family farm. About 15 hectares are dedicated to this line in which the five grape varieties selected to make up BACK TO BASIC are grown, Pinot Grigio DOC Venezia , Pinot Grigio rosé DOC Venezia , Manzoni Bianco DOC Piave and Chardonnay DOC Venezia , Raboso IGT Veneto and Pinot noir DOC Venezia .

- GLASS, from ESTAL's patented idea and produced by Treviso-based glassmaker Vetri Speciali, is based on a highly innovative use of materials. In fact, it is Wild Glass, the mixture of which is 94 percent recycled glass. This glass is 100% PCR (post consumer recycled) certified and allows for production whose ecological impact is extremely low. The key element of sustainability is then added to the high level of customization that this material allows. In the case of the Back to Basic line, we wanted to accentuate the uniqueness and imperfection of recycled glass by using a texture that has a vintage effect (BACK). The result is an organic, one-of-a-kind design that can transform the flaw into a priceless sign. The particular texture is suitable for 'absorbing' imperfections that may result naturally during bottle production, so as to avoid discarding as few as possible of the specimens produced. It is a way of creating a product in which even the imperfection becomes part of the aesthetic beauty.

- The Cork used is Amorim Cork's Twin Top Evo, made entirely of cork, a 100% ecological and sustainable material that is natural, renewable, recyclable and reusable, allowing it to offset a COâ‚‚ level of 297 grams.

- THE LABEL, made in conjunction with UPM BIOFORE paper mill, San Faustino Label printing house with the coordination of O'nice Design graphic design studio, made of 100% recycled Sabrage paper, contains no plastics or other materials of non-natural derivation and is obtained from the waste of the cotton industry processing. It occupies, on the bottle, as little space as possible, and is one piece banding so as to reduce the impact of glue. In addition, the debossing technique minimizes the use of inks whose color is etched by offset processing, which is the least impactful.

- Finally, the outer packaging of the CARTONE, which features 79% recycled paper printed in a minimal percentage and with low environmental impact inks.
The Back to Basic line is a project strongly felt by the Pizzolato team that wants to help combat the idea that recycling necessarily entails a decline in quality and aesthetics and to show that even something imperfect can be pleasing to the eye.
When you uncork Back to Basic, don't just taste the wine, all of which is sourced from crops owned by the Pizzolato family, but enjoy looking at every corner of the bottle and its elements thinking that every material it is made of and that you are admiring and touching had an end and then a new beginning. And, thanks precisely to the recycling process, all of this can begin anew.
