Prosecco DOC Rosé: trends, numbers and forecasts of bubbles "in pink"!

Placed on the market toward the end of one of the most complicated years for the trade, Prosecco DOC Rosé was the Italian wine to achieve incredible numbers for a new product, reaching in the run-up to Christmas 2020, more than 13 million bottles sold.

At the end of last year, so close to the launch of the new product, the Consortium's medium-term estimates of Prosecco DOC Rosé production were around 30 million bottles.
As for Pizzolato's production, to date the total number of bottles sold of Prosecco DOC Rosé (vintages 2019 and 2020) is about 20,000 bottles distributed in the following countries: Sweden, Finland, Norway, USA, Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Estonia, Lithuania, and Italy.

To date, the national and international numbers are as follows:
The desire to launch this product is the result of a study carried out by the Consortium in 2018 in which it had become clear that consumers' perception of rosé sparkling wines was still very confused, so much so that most of them - both in Italy and abroad - were convinced that they had already drunk Prosecco Rosé. Hence precisely the need for the Consortium to standardize and regulate production, guaranteeing the consumer a Spumante Rosé of quality and certified origin, identifying it with the territory of production and making it recognizable. Article 2 of the Production Regulations of the "Prosecco" controlled designation of origin wines states that:

"The rosé sparkling wine type requires the following vine variety composition: Glera B. minimum 85 percent, maximum 90 percent; Pinot noir vinified in red minimum 10 percent, maximum 15 percent. Said composition allows obtaining the "rosé" coloration."

Prosecco DOC Rosé represents a new and different way of experiencing meeting, sharing, moments of relaxation, sociality in general. Its color already evokes an original personality that can move in any environment with surprising class and elegance...so, it's time: DARE THE PINK!
